Beth David Leadership
Rabbi Moshe Shmaryahu serves as the Rabbi of Congregation Beth David in
Binghamton, New York, and as the Head of School of Hillel Academy.
For more than 30 years, Rabbi Shmaryahu has served as Beth David's Hazzan, first
as the High Holy Day Hazzan and now as the congregation"s year-round Hazzan.
Throughout these years, he has led the congregation in prayer, officiated at life-
cycle events, and shared in the joys and challenges of generations of families. His
appointment as Rabbi is the natural continuation of decades of devoted service to
the congregation.
In addition to his educational and rabbinic responsibilities, Rabbi Shmaryahu has
been actively involved in adult education, pastoral care, community outreach,
interfaith dialogue, and fundraising for Jewish educational and communal
institutions. He also serves on committees of the Jewish Federation of Greater
Binghamton, contributing to initiatives that strengthen Jewish education and
community life throughout the region.
Rabbi Shmaryahu is known for his warm and approachable leadership, thoughtful
and practical teaching, and his ability to connect the timeless values of Judaism
with the opportunities and challenges of contemporary life.
Congregation Beth David is honored to welcome Rabbi Moshe Shmaryahu as its
Rabbi and looks forward to his continued leadership in prayer, education, and
community building.

Rabbi Zev Silber
Rabbi Zev Silber arrived in Binghamton in 1999 to be principal of Hillel Academy which at that time had about 70 students from kindergarten through eighth grade.Â
He had always been interested in teaching. He has Smichah (rabbinic ordination) from Rabbi J. B. Soloveitchik at Yeshiva University. He also earned his master’s degree in Talmud at Y. U. After college he spent a most memorable year studying at Yeshivat Rav Kook in Jerusalem which ended with him helping out at Shaaray Tzedek Hospital during the 6 Day War. Later he earned his master’s in Educational Leadership from University of Alabama in Birmingham.Â
Sadly the Jewish population in Binghamton has consistently decreased and for a while he was principal at Hillel Academy half-time and half-time rabbi at Beth David. Later he retired from Hillel Academy and since then has been rabbi at Beth David until this July when he retired.
Rabbi Silber as rabbi of the shul has offered classes, led the services including reading the Torah and blowing the shofar on Rosh Hashanah. Â And he has been available to congregants to answer questions and help with matters of Jewish life.
He is married to Judy who has aided him in his efforts to serve the community. They have 4 wonderful children with wonderful spouses and 16 grandchildren (b’lee ayin harah).  Â

Saba Wiesner
Saba Wiesner serves as President of Congregation Beth David, providing dedicated leadership and a strong commitment to the synagogue's mission and future. Working closely with the Rabbi, the Board of Directors, and members of the congregation, she helps strengthen and support the synagogue's educational, communal, and organizational life while helping advance its mission and long-term growth.
Saba is committed to fostering a warm and welcoming environment where members of all ages can connect, grow, and actively participate in Jewish life. Her vision, dedication, and tireless efforts help ensure that Beth David remains a vibrant center for prayer, learning, celebration, and community.
Under her leadership, Beth David continues to honor its traditions while embracing opportunities to strengthen and support the congregation for generations to come.
VICE PRESIDENT
CHARLES (CHARLIE)Â MANASSE

Charles Manasse brings decades of leadership, service, and dedication to the Beth David community. A graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics, Charles has devoted much of his career to serving both the local community and the Jewish community.
Charles served as Town Supervisor for 16½ years (6 years Town of Barker & 10½ years Town of Triangle) and has been an active leader in the Jewish community, including service on the Jewish Federation Board and Executive Committee and the JCC Board. He is also a member of the NYS Auctioneer Hall of Fame and has spent more than 40 years as a professional auctioneer.
At Beth David, Charles serves as Administrator of the Beth David Cemetery and is involved with the Chevra Kadisha, continuing his commitment to supporting the community through important acts of service.
Outside of his professional and communal responsibilities, Charlie enjoys life on his 29-acre mini farm near Dorchester Park. He has a donkey named Chiquita.
Charlie is proud to serve as Vice President of Beth David Synagogue and looks forward to continuing to serve in the future.Â
